MISSION STATEMENT

"The Wilderhaven Project, Incorporated, is dedicated to renewing our world by building families,
preventing conflict, protecting children and re-establishing a sense of community."

RENEWING THE WORLD

Some may think it's an impossible goal but we don't think so. In fact, we believe that if someone doesn't take the lead nothing will get done. We're not unrealistic in our goal of changing the world. In simple terms, we are part of the world and if we change ourselves we have in effect changed the world. We strive to bring renewal to ourselves first by making a commitment and then to others by fulfilling that commitment.

BUILDING FAMILIES

Though battered and fractured, the family is still the primary building block of society. We believe that the first step in creating a better world is to build viable and close-nit families. This is our primary mission. Whatever else we may do, our entire focus is upon insuring families are strong and healthy.

PREVENTING CONFLICT

Ours is a world of conflict. Families crumble from external conflicts between members or between the family and society and internal conflicts where individuals fight with themselves and struggle to deal with financial, emotional, physical and societal pressures. Families cannot be mended and made whole unless internal and external conflicts come to an end. Our mission is to address all three aspects of conflict. We're determined to keep families from ripping themselves apart. We're also determined to help families overcome pressures from the outside, societal pressures such as drugs, peer pressure, prejudice and so forth, that drive wedges between members of families or isolate families from society. And we're dedicated to individual family members whose life struggles prevent them from becoming a functioning p art of a family unit.

PROTECTING CHILDREN

Children are our future. The nurture and protection of children is the responsibility of families. That is why building and restoring families is of utmost importance. There are times, however, when the fabric of a family has torn beyond repair. When such is the case it is the mission of The Wilderhaven Project, Incorporated, to provide a safe haven for children threatened by or suffering from abuse or neglect.

ESTABLISHING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

The smallest element of a florishing societey is family. Families will never reach their full potential, however, unless all families are bound together within a community. It is the community that lends strength and support to individuals and families. When strong communities are filled with tight-knit families the whole of society benefits. Part of our mission is to find ways to bring families together within communities, teaching them to be tollerant of others, respectful of differences and appreciative of the many things all families have in common. ________________________________________________________________________________________________
